May 2007 Officer of the Month

Officer Edward Stenzel:

Ed is an experienced officer and a thorough investigator who leaves no stone unturned.  On May 9, 2007, Ed was dispatched to check on the welfare of a citizen.  He was unable to contact any person at the home but checked the exterior security of the residence and found an unlocked slider.  He entered the home to check on the resident and found the 85-year-old woman deceased.  While there was no evidence of foul play, Ed conducted a thorough investigation, contacted the next of kin, informed the medical examiner, and documented all the facts in a well-written report.  On May 18, 2007, Ed arrived on the scene of a domestic violence call.  Officer Stenzel conducted an in depth interview of all parties involved and determined that a crime had been committed.  He took a 45-year-old Marco Island resident into custody on the charge of Assault – Domestic Violence related.  Officer Stenzel’s professionalism, attention to detail and superior investigative skills are evident on every shift that he works.  He is an asset to the Marco Island Police Department.
