2006 September Officer of the Month Mike Pena:
On September 21st Mike investigated a theft of tools from a landscape contractor. During the investigation Mike found that a roofing company had performed work at the residence where this theft occurred. Mike spoke to the owner of the roofing company and obtained the identity of the worker who claimed to have found some tools abandoned in an empty lot. This employee had left Marco Island and returned to Cape Coral. Mike enlisted the co-operation of the roofing company owner and the suspect employee was convinced to return to Marco. When the suspect arrived back on Marco Island, Officer Pena was waiting in an unmarked police vehicle. Mike questioned the suspect and found the stolen tools in his possession. The suspect was arrested for Burglary to an unoccupied conveyance and the tools were returned to the owner.
