2006 October Officer of the Month  Corporal Mike Christoff: The October Officer of the Month is Mike Christoff. On October 21, 2006, Mike was assigned to investigate a report of a missing person. Mike obtained all of the required information and found the person was last seen two days earlier. Mike began checking with friends, relatives, co-workers, and area hospitals and directed another officer to check the bridge cameras. With the information Mike obtained he proceeded to a vacant Marco Island home to check for the missing person. Despite not seeing the vehicle the missing person was driving, Mike took the additional step of checking the garage. He observed the car inside the garage and observed the missing person seated in the vehicle. Mike broke a panel of glass on the door to force his way into the garage. He found the missing person unresponsive and not breathing. Mike called for medical assistance unfortunately the person was deceased. Mike continued his investigation and found that no foul play was involved. Mike is commended for his efforts, despite the unfortunate ending to his investigation. |
