2006 November Officer of the Month
Officer Ed Stenzel:
The November Officer of the Month is Ed Stenzel. Ed is
being recognized for his professional handling of an initial burglary
investigation that took place in August and resulted in criminal charges being
filed in November. In August Ed investigated three vessel burglaries in which
/GPS equipment, fishing and diving gear, and electronic equipment was stolen.
Ed was able to obtain latent fingerprints from two of the three crime scenes.
In November information was obtained that a 38-year-old Naples man and his
35-year-old brother may have been involved in these burglaries. The latent
fingerprints that Officer Stenzel lifted from the crime scenes were compared to
those of the suspects and a positive identification made to the left palm print
of the 38 year old. The suspect was questioned and admitted his involvement
when confronted with the fingerprint evidence. He was charged with Burglary,
Grand Theft and Criminal Mischief. Additional investigation found that both men
had pawned several items that were stolen in the burglaries and they were both
charged with multiple counts of Dealing in Stolen Property.
