2006 August Officer of the Month

George Guyer:

On August 24th officers were dispatched to a call about a suspect who left without paying his hotel bill. The suspect was driving a blue KIA and was accompanied by another person. George observed this vehicle driving east on San Marco Road and activated his emergency lights to pull the vehicle over about one-half mile east of the Goodland bridge.

George began to conduct a preliminary investigation. A witness identified the driver as the person who checked out of the area hotel without paying a bill in excess of $1,000. George placed the driver under arrest and during the search incident to arrest, found him in possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

The passenger in the car was checked and an open warrant for grand theft from Lee County led to her arrest. She was also found to be on probation for possession of heroin. Drug paraphernalia was found in her purse and she was charged with the possession of paraphernalia in addition to the warrant. Her probation officer was also notified who placed detained on her for violation of her probation.

The Marco Police Foundation thanks George for his efforts and attention to detail.
